Your question asked why we used spec skills as the basis for the rebalance. While the basis was that the skill was specialized it was also balanced considering a starting attribute rating of 80. This negates the +10 that is obtained from specializing across the damage dealing mediums. There are some creatures that still have a resistance level that is higher and some that are lower. If you are a mage that only uses life magic, (ie. No buffing/debuffing with creature) then hitting between 60-70% on creatures near your level is about where you will end up.

Life mages are a different challenge to play, and lack the serious killing power of their war toting cousins. Life is not a major damage skill it's strengths lie in defense and recuperative ability.

The character that you have has a base 250 missile ability. Prior to this patch there was about 75% of the content open to you with a suite of level 7 buffs, that has drastically changed. I'm not going to deny that.

However, at level 79 a 250 skill in your main damage output is low. You are out around where someone 10-15 levels lower than you would be. If they were specialized they would reach the 250 even sooner.

The creature levels have changed to reflect their difficulty to yours, so that a level 105 is not really meant for a level 79 with your stats anymore. It's not something that is intuitive yet, it may take some time to realize that there are no areas that are just beyond what you can hunt and stepping back to a different section may alleviate the problems that you are having, so too might some concentration on your weapon skill. At only 250 I am assuming that the skill is still reasonably cheap to raise.

There is now a complex equation that is used to calculate the experience yield of creatures.

The Dark Myrmidion escaped my baleful stare. I'll have to beat his level down this month and adjust his expereince as well.

The Hea, Aun, and humans on ML and the psycho pants on AL (We use that name because the Wumpus loves it) all were not updated. They will be however, as will their weaponry.

You should not need level 7 spells to hunt at 80+. The rebalance did not take into consideration melee's or archers buffed to gills.

A person who is buffed with 7's will oif course have a better chance but that is because of the higher skill ratio that 7's will always grant.

At this point we are not planning on putting 7's on items, but we have entertained the thought.

Creature rebalancing this month included a massive overhaul of the defensive abilities of creatures in the game. The skill that was most affected by these changes was missile defense. Over the past few days we have been taking player comments, in-game and out, using the information gathered and collating data with which to run tests on our internal servers.

One interesting aspect of hunting that is now more of an issue for missile characters is their distance from the target. We are not entirely satisfied with the impact this is having on missile in uncontrolled game situations, and we are considering possible changes to this dynamic to be implemented as part of the April update.
