As we previously posted, earlier this afternoon Morningthaw and Wintersebb went down without warning. We were able to restart WE almost immediately, but MT has run into further problems.
It is now evident that the game database on MT has experienced corruption, which is preventing the world from starting back up. We're not yet certain of the connection between the crash and the database corruption -- once the world is back up, we'll have more time to analyze the logs.
Unfortunately, the database corruption leaves us with two options. We could spend another five hours attempting to repair the database. This is not guaranteed to work and could result in strange behavior such as lost housing and items. Our other option is to roll MT back to the last good backup -- midnight last night. Restoring the world from backup and bringing it back online should only take two hours at most.
After discussing the two options, we have decided to go forward with the rollback. At approximately 4PM PDT / 7PM EDT / 11PM UTC Morningthaw will be brought back up with last night's backup. The backup was done at approximately midnight Pacific time -- 3AM Pacific, 7AM UTC.
This way we can cap the lost time at about 16 hours. If we went forward with the repair and it failed, it's possible that the lost time could exceed a full day or more.
We apologize for this unexpected downtime and rollback, and we thank you for your patience as we minimize the impact of the database corruption.
